Great first - Innovation: lighting of the boxes at the Jump'Est: the biggest equestrian event in the East of France.

Great international premiere at Jump’Est

Unprecedented lighting solution that allows horses to recover well to perform better (Nancy – Rosières in France).

THE RIGHT LIGHT, AT THE RIGHT TIME: AN UNPRECEDENTED LIGHTING SOLUTION ON EQUESTRIAN COMPETITION SITES ALLOWS HORSES TO RECOVER WELL TO PERFORM BETTER.

A major first in France and abroad was tested at the Jump’Est Nancy-Rosières: the installation by HEALF company (new partner-distributor of PROXIMAL since April 2023) of 3 boxes using PROXI-PERFORM solution to enlight with a white light (stimulating) or a red light (soothing).

During the Jump’Est Nancy-Rosières, the biggest event in the Grand Est (CSO National, CSI 3***, CSI 2**, National Dressage), PROXIMAL and HEALF installed the PROXI- PERFORM solution in 3 stall-boxes. Facilities fitted out to match the event: no less than 600 boxes for horses, 600 m² of VIP restaurant and 450 m² of terraces!

What does this installation consist of?

“After having presented the PROXIMAL range to Fabien RULQUIN (competition organizer), it seemed obvious to us at HEALF to be able to provide specific PROXI-PERFORM lighting in real use rather than in presentation on the booth. The idea really appealed. We collected all necessary information for this project (cutting plan of the structure, surface of the box, height of fixing). A study was then carried out by PROXIMAL to determine the reference of the most suitable product. The installation allows you to switch from white light (stimulating) to red (soothing). Fabien RULQUIN offered us 3 of his horses, installed near the entrance area of the competition stables to be able to carry out this first. Of course, I thank him for his trust.” relates Christophe DUMAS (HEALF co-manager).

What are the concrete benefits obtained and observed?

Since April 14th, we have been able to collect the testimonies of Fabien RULQUIN (Organizer of the competition and one of the leaders of the Cheval Liberté company) as well as Joséphine, horse groomer.

“During Jump’Est event, we placed our horses right at the entrance to the stables, lots of passage, lots of noise. In summary, a lot of stress factors for them. Despite all of this, we found that the only 3 horses out of the 20 in the stable to stay layed down all night long until the morning of 9:00 a.m. were those under PROXI-PERFORM red LED light. My horses very rarely lie down in competitions. These three horses were very relaxed and well rested, they performed well with rankings for each of them.” says Fabien RULQUIN.

“Usually during my night rounds, I turn on the stable light or my phone flashlight to observe our horses. Inevitably this sudden light surprises and disturbs them. Here, with only the red light, I have excellent visibility of the horses which allows me to ensure in complete safety and in the best conditions, of their good health, without disturbing them in their important phase of recovery.” rejoices Josephine.

Innovation to serve horse well-being and performance

“For all of our product developments, we are focus on the one hand on the particularities of the horse’s vision and on the other hand on the studies carried out with our scientific committee and linked in particular to the behavior of horses to lighting within indoor and outdoor living and working areas,” says Bruno DUVAULT (Founder and manager of PROXIMAL).

Unlike humans who are trichromats, horses are dichromats, that is to say they do not perceive red light. For this specific use case, PROXIMAL has designed and developed ROXI-PERFORM range of luminaires suitable for stables, which in addition to functional white light lighting, includes a particular wavelength of red light which facilitates recovery and night rest, a privileged moment for the production of melatonin (sleep hormone), essential for performance.

“More and more of our customers in France and abroad are adopting this solution for their sports and racing stables. Offering these same innovative solutions on competition sites is an additional asset for organizations wishing to offer riders and competitors facilities offering the best conditions of well-being and performance for their horses.” concludes Bruno DUVAULT.
